Bad Barista - Is this an indication for your business too?
Recently Mark Rovner (commentator and Internet fundraising expert) did a story for NPR on the changing economy and something called the "Bad Barista Index". Listen at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5073210
In his piece Rovner tells about the experience he has at his local Starbucks and how the higher skilled the barista is in other things, then the more likely they will find a job in what they were originally trained in and leave the coffee business. His theory is that this then leaves the coffee shop looking for people who are not as highly trained in other types of jobs, thus possibly leading to a "less than perfect" experience at your favorite coffee shop.
Does this happen to your business? How do you combat it?
